Also, many people have lost their homes and all they own. I guess the Red Cross would be a good place to start when trying to donate household items.

People as far away as ARLINGTON and CANTON felt this blast. This is such a tragedy for our state. Let's pull together and show the world how Texans take care of their own.

The Red Cross doesn't take donations of household items. They prefer financial donations.

From KWTX, "The Extraco Events Center will be setting up to take donations starting tomorrow at 9:00 am. For information call 254-776-1660" and also "Both Peas & Tots and Smarty Pants consignment stores in Waco are accepting clothing donations in all sizes for those in West" http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/E...203505331.html

Thanks for the info - I didn't mean to take donations to the Red Cross, but instead I thought the Red Cross might be able to direct people to local entities that could distribute household goods. But this is good information so we don't have to bother the Red Cross!

Carter BloodCare
You can find the Carter Blood Care nearest you to donate blood. I have heard that Texas A&M is already planning to accept donations of bottled water, diapers, baby formula and monetary donations and they should have a trailer set up in College Station I believe I read starting on Thursday.

Please, if you are going to donate clothing make sure it is clean and not torn or stained. I'm sure gift cards to Target and Walmart would be appreciated more than clothing so that people effected can get the sizes they need and even undergarments (no one wants used undergarments).

.
Contact list to check on injured residents admitted to hospitals, where to make material/monetary donations, blood donations (still calling for these, so please help if you can), the Red Cross onsite in West, places to stay for those displaced - including nursing home placement - by this tragic event:
