Default A question for people from Tioga, or around the town

I'm from London, England and I'm writing a novel which will be partly based in Texas. During my research, I found that Tioga was the perfect town for one of the many locations featured in my novel. The thing is, it's set between 1993 and 1997 so if anyone can tell me anything about Tioga during that time I would be eternally grateful.

The main areas I need answers for is the population, the names of the schools and employment opportunities. Anything else, big or small, would be welcome, including the name of the local bar

Thank you in advance

Smile Tioga info

THe Chamber of Commerce web site would probably be helpful. Tioga Chamber of Commerce, Tioga, Texas Although my family moved to Tioga in 2003 I can tell you the school name is Tioga School (preK - 8th grade). The mascot is a Bulldog. Clark's Outpost BBQ Restuarant is one of our focal points (Clark's Outpost Barbeque - mail order bbq - Texas barbecue). Spirit of the West Resort is also located here -- they also have 9 hole golf course (Spirit of The West Resort Official Home Page) and they do have a bar (the restaurant inside the hotel is called "Diverso"). However, most of the locals probably visit the "Four Horsemen" in neighboring Pilot Point to quence their thirst. Also, we have a Post Office and several Horse Ranches (McQuay Stables is probably the best-known: McQuay Stables-Home of Hollywood Dun It).

I don't believe our population has changed much in the past 10 years -- sign at the entrance of town shows 754 as of 2000 (I think that's the most current year).

There is also a Phillips 66 Gas Station in town (the local hang-out in the morning for coffee and breakfast for some of the locals) and there was a gas station on the south side of town (I believe it was a Diamond at that time) -- it has since changed ownership and reopened under a different name. There is a boat ramp entrance to Lake Ray Roberts called Buck Creek Ramp that is just across Buck Creek bridge on the south side of town -- I'm not sure if it's technically in Tioga or if it's Pilot Point.

Another source for local news stories from that time frame would be the Post Signal Newspaper based in Pilot Point. They are a weekly newspaper and every week they print happenings from 5, 10, 20 years ago and they might be able to give you some information -- Pilot Point Post-Signal

I hope that this information helps.
