I am interested in How the Texas SKI Ranch has worked out in New Braunfels, TX.
We have a municipal dam authority in Santee California (Padre Dam)that wants to put one in our community. While I see that it is a great recreational activity. The site they are proposing this for is in a populated community and am concerned about the alcohol policy that the park currently has mixed with a 3200 square foot restaurant that will be serving alcohol. Can anyone speak to crime after an event...has this been an issue? alcohol related crime, or crime on property.
Additionally can anyone comment on the noise level from the project?
Has it helped or hurt property value in the area? The proposed project will involve a 25 year lease between the water district and the developers...the same developers that have managed the project in New Braunfels. So am very interested in comments from folks that leave nearby. Does anyone know how close the homes are to this park? Thanks for taking time to reply.
Regards Worried in Santee
Tim

The Ski Ranch is adjacent to one of the busiest traveled highways in Texas, I-35. I don't think (?) there aren't any houses in the immediate area - it's a travel to destination, which sounds different that what it planned in your area. I'm sure there will be others that will chime in and give you more info.

There are no homes nearby since it's all commercial property along I-35. The ranch is extremely popular and business appears to be booming. Those cable ski lakes are really popular in Europe so it's surprising it hasn't caught on more in the US.
