Umm..no idea what happened off-video, nor where she got bruises, etc. Just to be devil's advocate and look at both sides a bit....

They had no business arresting her in the first place. They were pushing and manhandling her.

I obviously wasn't there, but I suspect she was trying to just cross that line so that she would be 'the victim'.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, clearly.

Having been in a similar position (only it was the Viet Nam war that was the topic of the protest), and having been teargassed (not complaining, it was something that I knew was a possibility and accepted) while sitting on the ground and singing, and being someone who in general supports the police in most of their endeavors and realizes that they have their bad apples that give the good apples a bad name just like every other human activity out there, and being someone who when the little old lady was tazered by a cop some time back felt that she pretty much demanded it, I have no problem believing that this officer was overly rough with a woman in her 70's, looking at the video.

Saw this the other night on Facebook. It's not surprising at all.

I'm not anti-police and understand their necessity to society. I realize it's a dangerous job, but they get way too much leniency hiding behind the badge. If you breathe in a police officer's direction it is assault. On the other hand, an officer uses excessive force on a citizen....give them a medal for their bravery and a raise!

I'll offer one perspective and that is if you are a peace officer and you're dealing with 50 emotionally charged people, I can see the officer having little tolerance for those who challenged an order for dispersal. I'm not endorsing it - rather, this is a product of officer safety training.

Meh, its a toss up. Do you side with the lefty provoking a police officer and then whining about it when he gets a little rough with her, or the government thugs that been empowered by statists on both the left and the right?

Riiight.

I am sure the facts in the OP's case will come out. Until I know them all, I withhold judgement.
