Do you suggest we leave very early in the morning to avoid rush hour or a little after rush hour? NO idea what to eXpect traffic wise between those two cities. We will leave at 6am if we need to. I know it's a long drive and I don't want it to turn into an all day event. We will be leaving on Thursday morning.

Tropical rain storms are forecast for Houston beginning Sunday. It should be over by Monday night but maybe you should switch and do Dallas first lol

Try not to get into Dallas before noon. The window between the morning and afternoon rush hours is very slim (generally noon to about 3pm).
