The point was that Houston has more consistent density than DFW, as well as denser tracts than DFW. Overall, they are about similar in density.

And you can clearly see different floodplains in Houston as well (especially the two big ones on the west side). And the density in Dallas has actually decreased since 2000, while it has increased in Houston.

Compare the neighborhood density of US urban areas - Greater Greater Washington

I wonder why the density in Dallas is decreasing.
Would think the areas around downtown would have shot up

I'm thinking the same thing. They are building apartments like crazy around the uptown area and many buildings in downtown have been converted into apartments since then.

How many are they tearing down? Houston had been on a rampage this year tearing down dozens of dilapidated complexes, but those would not affect density counts because they were all vacant.

Has Dallas been tearing down ugly apartments, giving people the boot and tearing down low income housing to build "upscale" empty snooty residences?

DFW as a whole feels and is bigger. Houston in the central city feels larger, mainly because its at the center of the Houston MSA, where Dallas is at the southern and eastern part of the overall metroplex.

No, I knew they came back together. I'm originally from Arlington, grew up there haha. I just thought you'd treat them like 2 separate interest (e.g. I-20 and I-30) rather than 1. So I guess all the lanes of both count.

Not that I know of.

In real life DFW is the larger of the two and has anywhere between 400,000-500,000 more people than metro Houston. IMO DFW feels larger. There are parts of DFW that I have not even visited and I am a native of the area.

I think the feel about the same. It's about 70 miles from Houston's western most suburb to the eastern most suburb. And it's about the same in Dallas, about 70 miles Dallas's eastern most suburb to Ft Worth's western most suburb. It's really one town, from Dallas to Ft Worth, you can't tell when you leave town and enter another without a sign telling you which city or suburb you are now entering. Dallas has lots of suburbs over 100,000 people. Houston doesn't have near as many suburbs over 100,00, if any except for Pasadena.

It's almost like one town a few miles south of the Oklahoma all the way to beyond South Dallas, about 70 miles. Houston is almost like one town from Conroe TX all the way to Galveston, also about 70 miles. I prefer Houston, mainly because it's closer to the coast. I never realy seen anything in Dallas that would make want to move there. I like the vibe in Houston. I think it has more spirit and more local pride in their city than Dallas residents do. That's just my experience. Houston seems more worldly, there's lots of people from overseas who live there. Many of the street signs in SW Houston are written in both English and I think it's either Korean or Vietnamese, whereas Dallas seems like it's basically, white, black and Hispanic. Don't get me wrong, Dallas is a very nice town, but it's not for me.

DFW IS larger ,Houston FEELS larger...I think its because of the build up on the freeways in Houston. All of houstons freeways(or most) Have pretty large office buildings lining them. In Dallas you generally see similar build up but not in as many places and on a smaller scale...This make Dallas seem more small town-ish compared to Houston... But Dallas is the perfect blend of everything which causes a more relaxed comfortable setting and not so Chaotic as Houston...
