Dry heat is not as oppressive as humid heat. Humidity makes the air so thick it's an effort to do anything and 5 minutes into it you're soaking wet.

lol..and that includes walking to your car in the parking lot

Dallas's heat is really bad IMO. Houston's humidity may be bad but it doesnt get as hot as Dallas. The difference is Dallas may have a little drier heat but the dry heat reminds me somewhat of Phoenix. "The air that burns your skin".

The most oppressive heat in Texas is south of the Red River.

You are right about south of the Red River. The Panhandle is not as hot or as humid as the rest of the state.
