Default What part of Texas has the most oppressive heat

Might be moving to Texas in the future. I have family in Waco which is centrally located. I just want to avoid sweating all the time and stay away from the hottest part of Texas.

Some people say Houston. I don't know any other place, though. If you're in the SE side of town you get all the inland heat mixed with all the humidity from the bay. This summer for a few days it was 102 with a heat index of 115 on this side. (Ellington field) Usually we peak at about 97 with a heat index of about 110.

Laredo and the valley will be the hottest degree wise ... but I honestly prefer the heat down there over the coastal heat.

The coast stays a few degrees less than the rest of the state, but the opressive humidity makes the coast terribly uncomfortable. 98 and dry is much better than 95 + 90% humidity, easily! Just standing or sitting still, in the shade on the coast you will saturate your clothing in 10-15 minuits...

How is the heat in the piney woods area, say around Tyler or Longview? It looked like it wasn't as humid during the hottest parts of the day...about 50% humidity at the daily high, during summer.

I was afraid someone would say Laredo, Tx. When we visited (July-06) it was really hot, but I was hoping it was just a heat wave, but as I can see it's probaly hot most of the time. I guess we are going to have to have a Very Big Pool built once we move over there We stopped in Del Rio at a Libby's to eat and it was sooo hot, I thought no way could I live here, it wasn't as hot in Laredo, and maybe I am wrong but it seemed a bit humid in Del Rio, not even a breeze of air. Thank God fo AC!!!

Del Rio usually has no humidity and almost always has a breeze.

Personally, I think Houston is the worst!!

I'd say it's worse towards Corpus Christi. Houston's pretty bad too.
