Longview and Tyler are already connected by an interstate - I 20. And the speed limit is 75.

Wrong again.

Q: "Also, TxDOT''s I-69 Segment One Committee is currently studying the possible I-69 route to the Louisiana state line. Are there currently any types of coordination efforts between TxDOT and LaDOTD regarding the state line crossing? If so, does LaDOTD currently have a "preferred" routing?"

A: "Right now due to limited funding, TXDOT has no plan to restart an EIS for I-69 that crosses into Louisiana. Again, if and when they do, TXDOT will have to consult with LADOTD on what is the preferred route going into Louisiana. There is no “preferred route” for LADOTD at this time as the environmental study for SIU 16 has not been initiated.
"

The environmental study hasn't even been conducted for Louisiana, and they don't even know where I-69 will cross into Louisiana. That would have to be resolved first and then the environmental impact study, engineering, and then funding. It's years before there are even plans...

"In short, the section from the Texas state line to US 171 will not be built during my lifetime.

A ROD has not yet been issued for SIU 14. I've communicated with a local FHWA official and it appears that the major holdup/problem is that neither Louisiana nor Arkansas has any funds allocated for I-69 SIU 14 in their respectives STIPs. If a ROD were to sit dormant for a certain length of time, a re-evaluation would have to occur before any construction could begin. The various governmental entities are currently trying to figure out the best way to handle this situation.

In the FEIS, Louisiana set forth a schedule to build its section of SIU 14 over a fifteen year period from 2019 to 2033 (page 5-7 of FEIS; page 207/760 of pdf). Maybe it is better to wait on the ROD

Good. The whole diagonal across Louisiana and Arkansas seems rather pointless."

Nacogdoches and Lufkin city limits is maybe about 2sq mi off from being the size of Tyler and Nacogdoches is about the same as of now so yes they are already in the ball game with your towns.Nac is way more of attractive city then Tyler and always have been. You love for Tyler to be mention in everything but that won't happen because Longview just rank in the top 15 cities for business creation and Nac and Lufkin are bring freeways in something Tyler don't have a clue unless they drive to Dallas,Shreveport or now Nacogdoches and Lufkin.Nac and Lufkin are opening nationals chain resturants and retail almost every month or two right now so for to say what you are saying obviously you haven't been here in this area are you just don't like hills and nice lakes and nice festivals are basically lol nice cities I repeat cities.

I want everybody to look up Lufkin first on the yahoo map and see if Lufkin area don't make Tyler look like a small town lol!!!!!

Dee,

Tyler and Longview are not "my" towns. Currently Nacogdoches is "my" town. I live up the hill from Tanglewood day care and enjoy my morning "comute" by foot to work near the Fredonia. I spend an average of 3 hour behind the wheel each work day with normal travel as far south as Silsbee as far north and east as Center (soon to be Deadwood) as far north west as Timpson (soon to be Henderson) and as far west as Madisonville.

While Nacogdoches is the finest example of a small town with enough youth in to feel alive, and Lufkin has enough real industry to.actually be called a economic entity, Nac has nowhere the energy of Tyler and Lufkin doesn't have the industry of Longview.

And....since driving to places like Houston and Dallas gives me the screaming heebie jeebies, I like it like that.

Cheers

It won't be finished before 2033 you can guarantee (I gare-un-tee). That's in 20 years and with rosy projections. Let's say there's the standard LA delays, I could foresee it being done by 2053 or so, in 40 years.

Most likely, we won't be able to ride it in our lifetime (unless you are younger than I am), at least on the LA section.

I was in high school when they were working on I-49 in Louisiana. They are still working on it 22+ years later and it is no where near done.

What does any of that have to do with what you said earlier being untrue.?

My original premise was that I-69 was not going to be completed within anyone on here's lifetime. I hold by that premise and have proved that out.

You need to look around at whats going on in Nac and in Lufkin.
Nacogdoches is building all over with the new North village center that will have 14 stores including resturants like newks that will be open soon,Rustys tacos just open again a national chain a new home improvement store ATWOODS is about to open in October the new Power center that will be a Haulk holdings project that is a shopping center that is also on the plans.Hungry Howies just open up about week ago with crowds of people on foot crowed all around the Universtiy plaza shopping center. The fish place open up a taste of some good Louisanna food,Steeles department store open up,Jimmy Jongs just open up,China star buffet just open and both deliver.Citi trends open up in the mall and now Biglots has plans to open up in the old brookshire building.Family dollar just built a location in Cushing,Chireno,Etoile and now two more locations in Nac,one will be at the intersection of Douglas hwy and ritche st west end and the other across from North view plaza in the old car lot.Fuzzy Tacos open up basically all this in one year of time trust me again Trust Me it doesn't take long for a city to take power plus the medical field is expanding including the hospital construction going on soooooooooo wat you are trying to call a ''Small town'' that can't compete you haven't seen nothing yet........hmmm
Now lets talk about lufkin G.E. electric just bought Lufkin indurstries,Carl jr's open up.Tjmaxx just open up,Woodland heights is exspanding and memorial health system added a stroke center,Burke center is building a new and bigger locations on frank street,Fuel city that only have two locations in the state and thats in Funkytown and downtown Dallas has open with a Dennys and Lufkin have 7 locations of family dollar lol which isn't a shock.Five guys plus bugers and fries have open up,there is another national chain buger joint opening up in the old grannys resturant.A new strip center open up on the east loop that has a upscale look to it with several stores. The freeway is now bascially all around loop 287 and the person saying that the freeway is only one third of a mile is truly False,it goes from north loop at the Tyler exit all the way to the south end at white house st. which about a 12 mile stretch.I also seen where some body said txdot haven't decided on the route well guess what there are signs from Houston which is officially I-69 and signs are post all the way to Garrison,tx.Someone from Austin said that and to clear this up in Lufkin when you come to a major intersection there is more lanes then it drop back down and then approaching another intersection it pick back up with more lanes. You being from Austin should know that.Beaumont a prime example the interstate in front of the park dale mall goes up to more lanes then drop down coming from a major intersection then pick back up at another major one.In Beaumont on that same corridor it drops to two lanes on each side with exits not frontage road and people in Beaumont still call it the freeway. Oklahoma city and Atlanta, georgia have the same thing going in some areas where there is lane without frontage road and have only exits at some interchanges but still a freeway.Houston is about the only city in the country that have frontage road following the whole routes on there freeways.
