We took another long loop through Central Texas this week end still looking for a town. We want an old house ,preferably to redo as we are builders. Weatherford seemed really nice, clean etc. schools are no issue and Fort Worth is plenty large for a close by city.

Waxahachie was also nice,a little scrubbier in the old neighborhoods.

Any feed back?

Gail

I have not lived in either area myself, but I have heard much more favorable things about Weatherford than Waxahachie. Waxahachie has some fairly dirty industry and is located very close to the huge volume of traffic up and down I-35.

Weatherford has become the haven for rich businessmen who work in Ft Worth, or high dollar cattlemen, horsemen, cuttin' horse men....not a poor cowboy town by any means. Lots of money in that town. Look at how many banks it has, and it keeps growing...i hope it hasnt lost all of its quaintness that it once had.

I live in Ft Worth and go out that way often, and Weatherford hasn't changed all that much IMO. There are a lot more little towns around it than there used to be, but Weatherford itself (and Mineral Wells) haven't changed very much. I wish that the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells would open up again, though (it'll never happen). That was a really cool place.

Default Reasons for Weatherford

We are looking for a small town near a big city with courthouse square, historic distric old houses. Now, if we can just blast someone out of those old houses!!!
