Ok... Jim... dude, enough of the threads.

There's nothing wrong with the Cotton Bowl and there's no need to jab at Dallas every single chance you get. I get annoyed by people making the assumption that our city is part of Dallas, sure. But THIS does nothing...

Um... since when is Arlington not a part of the Dallas area? News to me.

That metro division stuff is a way for the census to break down statistics. It's not like crossing over the Dallas County line into Tarrant County is like entering a vortex in the Bermuda Triangle or something.

As long as the Texas-Oklahoma game is played at the real Cotton Bowl Stadium in Fair Park during October, I could care less about Jerrah's Death Star stadium. I think Reliant is a more fan-friendly stadium anyway, and it isn't run by that narcissistic Arkansas yayhoo.

Since they've called them the Texas Rangers, not the Dallas Rangers.

They aren't called the Fort Worth Rangers either. Pretty bad comeback to the question.

Yes it does - there is a difference between the Stadium in Dallas called the Cotton Bowl, and the Cotton Bowl Game. How can people not understand that?

The new Bowl structure and National Championship will be good for college football and particularly good for the DFW Metroplex. Jerry-ville has been great for Arlington, brought a lot of business to Downtown Fort Worth and Dallas still benefits. Win-Win for all.

The Cotton Bowl Games played at Jerry-ville in Arlington have been huge - 87,025 in 2012, over 91,000 in 2013. The Cotton Bowl Game will now move from New Year's Day to New Year's Eve. It doesn't even matter if any of the teams are from Texas anymore - Jerry built it and they come.

I think it is important to note attendance was actually posted as this (see below) since it has been played at AT&T Stadium. Record was set at over 88K in 2009, the last game to be played at the old Cotton Bowl Stadium.

2010 - 77,928 - Ole Miss defeats OSU
2011 - 83,514 - LSU defeats A&M
2012 - 80,956 - Ark defeats KSU
2013 - 87,025 - A&M defeats OU
2014 - 72,690 - Mizzou defeats OSU

In my opinion, the Cotton Bowl is not a very good stadium, and that's why it's losing proiminence. I've not been in the past 2-3 years since they made the latest updates, but the last time I went (I don't recall the year - 2006 -2009 timeframe) the scoreboards in the upper deck weren't elevated - so they were blocked by fans, so you couldn't see the time or score easily. The video boards were poor quality, and there are huge bumpouts in each end zone, so the end zone seats are super far away from the action. Go check google maps for that one and compare to Kyle Field or Tech Jones Stadium or UT.

Also there was only one video board, and the concessions and bathrooms are terrible. Finally if your team is getting whaled on [and football has a lot of downtime when you are not looking at the field], there is nothing architecturally interesting about the stadium to look at, it's just a big boring looking bowl. That's extra sad because there is cool art deco and an amusement park right outside either end.

Jerryworld and SMU stadiums are a much better experience. Heck, UNT's home stadium is nicer than the Cotton Bowl now.
