I wasn't trying to suggest that NY or LA were anything alike. I mentioned them together because a lot of people from both areas are making their way to Texas (at least Austin).

Texas IS different. Maybe Houston is more cosmopolitan and is/has grown away from its Southern roots but Texas culture and history are unique. Coming from a proud Texan and you won't convince me otherwise!
