In Abilene we do have Dyess AFB and all of the jobs and contracts that go with it. American Airlines also has a testing/maintenance/repair area at the Abilene airport for the smaller planes used by American Eagle all over the United States. They fly in from everywhere, get repaired or maintained, and then they go home. They always seem to need employees. Our junior college and Texas Technological College in Abilene are both training folks to fill openings.

Default Rockport, Texas

I have read many replies to emails concerning moving to this area. Personally, my family has lived here for 3 1/2 years and we were visiting my mother before that (who has lived here nearly 20 years). We have always loved it here. I haven't experience any sort of criminal activities personally here is Rockport. It is just far enough from the hustle and bustle of busy city life but close enough to drive over for a day of shopping at the mall or whatever you like. The beach here is nice and requires a $10 a year permit to enter. It has a free end and you can bring pets in a particular area. It has several playground areas, a volleyball area, public buildings for parties or meetings and more. It is shallow for families and for wading. In Aransas Pass, you can visit the "big beach" as my children call it where you can surf and look for sea shells. It is deeper. It goes on for miles. It has areas for camping on the beach, fishing, and parts that are free and parts that require a small fee. There are beautiful views in Rockport of the sunset, migratory birds such as the white pelicans and whooping cranes, and also the egrets, herons, and sea gulls. I really like it here in Rockport and I bet you would too. If you are interested, we do have a piece of property for sale on a lake in Holiday Beach (Subdivision in Rockport). You can look it up on the internet. We have 4 lots together which is located in the Oak Shores section of Holiday Beach directly on the lake. At sunset, the egrets nest in the trees around the lake, there are ducks all over it, and lots of frogs and turtles. It's great. If you are interested further, or have any questions, please email to djhall29@earth-comm.com Thanks, djhall29

I also lived in So Cal ( Dana Point ) and left it for the same reasons that you mentioned. You would probably like the Woodlands as it is like less populated areas of Orange County with great schools, plenty of parks and retail establishments, only with lots more trees than CA. We decided on Lake Conroe as it is only about ten minutes North of the Woodlands and is a lot more laid back/less crowded not to mention the beautiful 22,000 acre lake that we live on. There are probably 15 golf courses with in a 15 mile range as well. You can get to Bush airport in about 45 minutes and Houston in 55 minutes with no traffic which has all the city ammenities that you will want. Either way if you go to Dallas or Houston area get ready for the first summer here to be brutal as the humidity is very high between May and Sept.
