I believe the gentleman owning this thread desires that it remain definitive pertaining to luxury in the state of Texas. I started a thread for comparing and contrasting luxury retail in the Dallas section.

Oh and not to mention Dallas is the home of FIVE major names: Northpark Center, Highland Park Village, Neiman Marcus, Forty Five Ten and Stanley Korshak. Houston? well, Galleria.

I would have no problem with people comparing and contrasting but that ruined a previous thread similar to this one. I had to close the thread because people would just nonstop fight about Dallas and Houston. So I decided to make a new thread that would just celebrate the shopping diversity of both cities.

River Oaks District fetches $550M-plus in cash sale

"JPMorgan Asset Management has purchased Houston's posh mixed-use complex, River Oaks District, in a partnership with the property's developer, according to sources familiar with the deal.

The cash transaction was more than $550 million, according to a source, a high price for the Inner-Loop shopping, office and apartment development and one that demonstrates the resilience of Houston's retail market amid an economic slump due to collapsing oil prices.

River Oaks District spans 14 acres at 4444 Westheimer, just inside the West Loop. The project, some 10 years in the making, opened last fall with some of the world's top luxury brands, including Cartier, Dior, Hermes and Tom Ford. A slate of restaurants have or will soon open, including French bistro Toulouse Café and Bar, Taverna, Steak 48, Le Colonial and Hopdoddy Burger Bar from Austin.

River Oaks District in Houston is getting the nations first John Hardy store..

Quote:
Houston will get the first of three U.S. retail locations for John Hardy, an international luxury jewelry maker.

The 1,000-square-foot Houston boutique is scheduled to open in September in River Oaks District. It will be John Hardy's first U.S. location, according to the company. A New York City flagship store is scheduled to open in November, followed by a third store in an as yet unannounced U.S. city.

Finally an expansion for Highland Park Village. And the guessing game begins.

Expansion of Highland Park Village Approved | Park Cities People

Expansion of Highland Park Village Approved
by Tiana Pigford · June 28, 2016

Highland Park Village will be getting a major facelift after a unanimous approval for renovations and expansion to the shopping center at a town council meeting Monday.

The expansion project will construct two partly covered outdoor roof terraces on the third floor, add three additions on the north, east, and west sides of the third floor, and convert office space to restaurant and bar use. A penthouse on the upper level will be renovated and expanded with two towers on either side, and a one-story stair tower and pedestrian bridge will hover the private drive at the West end of the building.

And for shoppers who refuse to trek across a sweltering hot parking lot, valet will become a lot simpler with ticketless valet, allowing you to request your car on your phone.

According to city development services manager, Kirk Smith, Highland Park Village has not applied for a permit for the project yet, therefore a date for construction has not been set.
