Does anyone have any information regarding an abduction case that happened back in March of 1983? A little girl named Desiree Carroll was abducted in Kosse and was never heard from again. If anyone out there remembers anything or was living in or around that area at that time can you please respond? Thank you!

I remember this case very well as my name is Desiree Carroll and I was living apart from my dad and with my mom in Florida. This beautiful little girl was profiled on a tv show that John Walsh hosted after his son Adam was abducted and murdered. My step-mom was in the kitchen with the tv on and not really watching the tv but hearing what was being said. She heard Desiree Carroll was missing and a quick flash of the little girl with dark brown hair appeared. In a flash it looked like me....my mom in Florida did not have a phone and my dad and step-mom starting calling the police in Florida to check on me and everything.

Because we share the same name and close to the same age (although I think I am a little older than her...I was born in 11/74) she has been in my thoughts and prayers over the years. I really hope someone found her and I hope her family has closure.

I was working at a local newspaper 16 miles away at this time and it was the big story for awhile. What sticks out in my mind is how the parents left the area so quickly after the disappearance. There was much speculation as to why any parent would leave the area from which the child disappeared unless they knew more than they let on. I remember rumors of the child being sold or perhaps even worse by her parents. I don't know the facts and I am not accusing or judging anyone. Who knows what one would actually do in the face of this type of tragedy. All I know is I have thought so often of this little girl and wondered what happened and if perhaps her story turned out happy after all.

Apparently not a happy ending as local and state law enforcement have re-opened or re-invigorated (original case never closed - girl never located, apparently) what they refer to as a cold-case. Small seemingly irrelevant or incidental pieces of information may snowball into significant leads. Anyone with any knowledge, interest or ideas should post.

Hey I have just stumbled onto this forum and noticed quite a bit of talk about the little girl missing from Kosse. My stepfather now owns this land and the Texas Rangers were out this past week for two days w/ cadaver dogs. The dogs hit on a tree where methane gas was detected. The teams are scheduled to come back and dig in the area of this tree next week.

I am related to one of the officers who investigated Desirees disappearance. It has haunted him for 25 yrs. There has only been 2 cases he couldnt solve during his law enforcement career and Desirees was one of them, thats a pretty good track record for 40 yrs in law enforcement. He had an idea what happened to her but didnt have the proof to show it. To this day he believes she is alive and well, as do i, but living with a different identity. I did recieve and annonymous email from someone stating they thought their friend was Desiree Carroll living in the San Antonio area. I havent heard from that person again. Donnarella from Tx? Someone, somewhere who has came across this Forum knows what happened to Desiree, i believe they know where she is also, or where she went. Please do the right thing and contact the Groesbeck Sheriffs Dept with ANY info that you may have! It doesnt matter if you know where she is, what happened, or what you've heard, even if you know someone who you think is Desiree Carroll, Please do the right thing and let authoritys know. Doesnt matter how small or how big the information is. If you have 'little' information it could be very valuable.
I have spoken with Desirees father, he is a very grief stricken man and all he has ever wanted is to know where his baby is, and if she is alive and well.
Please help him find her.

I came across this website by typing in "Desiree Chaunessy Carroll." My husband was cleaning out some really old stuff, receipts, et cetera, last night and came across an HEB receipt. On the other side of the receipt shows Desiree's information, that she's reported missing, last time seen is in Kosse, Texas. The date of the receipt was not what caught our attention. It was the name "Carroll." You see, May 17th Billy Dan Carroll was arrested in Austin, Texas. He's owner of three huge court reporting firms in San Antonio, Houston and Austin. I'm not going to go into all the details because there's tons of it on the Internet. Police found videos of him raping young children, one believed to be two years old and the police have mentioned that an incident or incidents on tape date back in 1980s.

How very strange. Yesterday we were coming home from HEB and my 9-year-old daughter insisted on reading the information from the back of the receipt about Desiree Carroll. I had never noticed it before. We talked about how old she would be now and how sad it was that she was missing. When I read this thread just now it gave me a shiver.
