Default Educator for Brownwood?

I've applied for the Superintendent position in Brownwood and would like to the ask the citizens of Brownwood a few questions?
1. Does this community truly support it's schools and place value in a good education?
2. Is this a good place for my daughters to attend, complete rigorous courses and be properly prepared for college?
3. Is there an appreciation for family life and family values?
4. Is there a progressive movement towards improving technology?

On paper Brownwood appears to be a very good school district, I'm just looking for some honest feedback from those that have an inside perspective.

Hello there. I moved to brownwood about 5 years ago to go to Howard Payne University. Therefore I did not get the chance to attend at Brownwood ISD. However. while at HPU I met and married my wife. My wife is a kindergarten teacher at woodland heights elementary school. This will be her third year at Woodland Heights and so far she has enjoyed her experience there. The school is exceptional with a great staff. Every faculty member is devoted to their students with a passion I never saw from my educators while I was in school. That is my third-person account. Now to answer your questions to the best of my ability: 1. The community does support it's schools. There is a tremendous sense of school pride at least on the high school level. However the town has a sort of double standard. Brownwood High School is most supported for it's athletic achievements. Especially since it is a sort of football mecca. But many of the families that are concerned with education above other things try to transfer their children to Early ISD at the high school level which has a reputation for academic achievement. There is a saying among Brownwood natives. If a person acts ignorant another will comment "you must have gone to Brownwood." Most of the families, at least in my wifes class, are concerned about their child's future and his/her education. I have only heard of 3 or 4 of her students not having good parental support in her 3 years. 2. This was touched on, if not explained to my ability in the previous paragraph. The friends I have that have graduated from Brownwood ISD seem to have received a good education, and 3 excelled in college. I am sorry I do not know more. 3. If there is one thing I can say about Brownwood it would be that it has a solid root in family values. It is a small town without many distractions. Most families on Saturday night will rather stay in with their families than go out. Mostly because there is nothing else to do ha ha. Most families are a model of famliy structure, and I do not know someone without a church family. 4. My wifes school seems to be lacking in the technology department. The majority of her material is still on casette tape that is copied from veteran teachers. She has 3 computers in her room and of those, 2 operate. The situation is the same for the rest of the school. Again I apogize for the lack of information. I hope this will help you in some way. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have for me or my wife at naadomail@gmail.com Also forgive the format. I am typing on a Pocket PC phone

well, the new sup. has already been hired, b ut I would say, IF you come from a district that has at least as many kids as Brownwood ISD, you might be a good fit. It will take someone with experience handling this size district. I was a teacher here for years..there are pros and cons.
