I think just browsing in the shops is fun if one is so inclined to do that. Some of them are very nice and quaint.

The Inn is nice. My son has stayed there a time or two and enjoyed it.

I ate in Salado once and really enjoyed the meal coming for a very interesting menu. That part I remember, but I can't remember much else about it except it had a great atmosphere. It's a place that has been there for decades and it seems to me, it's on the right hand side of one of the streets.

How's that for helpfulness? I'm sorry I can't be more precise.

Belle,

The Range is EXCELLENT!!!! I've eaten there at least a dozen times and never had a bad experience.

Salado has lots of antique shops and several art studios. The charm of it is being able to park and walk up and down the street. Eat, then exercise!

Salado is a nice place to just wander and browse in the shops. If you have good weather that just adds to it. It's very quaint and scenic. Makes for a nice day outdoors.

One of the best steaks and one of the best menus I ever saw or ate from was in Salado. I can't remember if it was the Range or the Salado Inn. It's a fun place, however, and my wife and I enjoyed the restaurant and the shops. You will have a good time.

Belle, I've known a few folks who have tried the Stagecoach Inn. My parents used to stay there from time to time and they loved it. From what I gather, it's historic. They have good accommodations and have a restaurant on the property. Supposed to be some good food, too. And I have never been to Cowboy's but yet have driven by it, oh, about three hundred times.

But I highly endorse Salado since I've made occasional stops there on my Central Texas road trips. It's peaceful and I don't think you'll go wrong. Hope you enjoy it.

Smokin' Spokes is having a bike rally there this weekend so if yer a bicycler strap on the helmet and get on down.

And there's a wildflower art show there this weekend.

Went to Cowboy's one time, been to several other places since. Wouldn't put Cowboy's or Mikeska's in my top 5 BBQ preferences. But you might hop across the freeway and try some boot scootin' at Bo's Barn.
