Three Texas cities makes Forbes list of "America's 10 Coolest Cities" (Houston: 2014)

Three Texas cities — Austin, Houston and Dallas — make Forbes magazine’s new list of America’s 10 Coolest Cities.

Washington, D.C., tops the list, with high scores for its arts, culture and recreational options.

Austin was No. 3. Houston was No. 4. Dallas eked in at No. 10, with part of its overall score based on its 3.9 percent net migration from 2010-13, and 28 percent of its population age 20-34.

Forbes ranked the nation’s 60 largest metropolitan statistical areas and divisions on six equally weighted factors: entertainment, recreation, “foodie” culture, diversity, age of residents and population growth, including net migration. It partnered with Sperling’s BestPlaces to create the list.
