Default Celebrity Sightings By C-D'ers in Texas

I just got a great idea off of the Houston threads. Have you ever run into a celebrity in person somewhere in Texas?? I have, and I know some of you have. Can you share that here with the rest of us?

So, how about tossing this ball around a bit? I'll be back with a couple of celebrity sightings in some unexpected places, but let's hear from you now!

As my buddy John McClain of the Houston Chronicle would say, let 'er rip!

Beau Bridges in Galveston (Got autograph). Billy Gibbons of zztop in Houston (met him through mutual friends one night, and the next night we ran in to him again and he bought me and my friend drinks Still have his glass!) Willie Nelson in Austin. Phil Enselmo (sp?) of Pantera in Houston (didn't know who he was. He was at Emos Houston at the time just hanging out, I thought I was just talking to some random guy), Vinny Appice from Black Sabbath (Houston. I was working for a music promotor and went to a show. He gave me a pack of cigarettes...I smoked a little back then). Teri Garr in Clear Lake, Tx (long story, but at the Hilton. Got an autograph for my dad). Earl Campbell on a Southwest airlines flight. (Had to sit next to him. He told my parents I was a crazy kid..he was teasing! I barely knew what to say ) Wammo(asylum street spankers, bought me and my husband shots). Milla Jovovich (Houston). Ken Gerard from Bamboo Crisis (knew him before he made good in techno/goth)

carolmcb is on a distinguished road
This entry will certainly date me. When I was in college I was going home for some holiday (which one I don't remember). The transportation van was running real late and I thought that I had missed my flight. Not so, the flight was still there and I was able to board. Turns out they had held the flight, not for me, of course, but for Charles Robb, son-in-law of Lyndon Johnson. Robb finally arrived and we took off. One stop on my flight to the Valley was Austin. I looked out of the window onto the tarmac and there was LBJ, Lady Bird, the girls, Secret Service, police, and 5 million others.

Later, I was working for an insurance company in Dallas. I got on the elevator and, hunched in the corner, was Mickey Mantle. He had a permanent in his hair and a big gold chain around his neck. I said hello and he said hello. And, that was that.

I have seen one or two others but not in Texas.

Here's one for you. I was waiting to board a flight to Houston out of DFW and Tiny Tim (he sang Tip Toe Through the Tulips) came over and sat next to me. Wow...I felt like I needed a bath after that........

A friend of mine and my husband have both been lucky at seeing celebrities! Not me, though, the only ones I've seen are Mike something or other (forgot his last name), he was a talk show host back in the 70's and 80's, I think. I saw him at DFW Airport back in the 80's. Also at the airport but it was this November I saw Jason Garrett.

I remember stopping at the Stagecoach Inn in Salado and my family ate lunch there one day many, many years ago. And we saw Tom Landry, who was still the Cowboys head coach at that time, eating there with a group. That was a great moment. Didn't meet him personally, though.

Tammy Wynette in Waco 1978. She did a concert at The Melody Ranch, I was 6 years old, and to this day have no idea how my mom got me into that place. My mom still has 2 photos of me and Tammy together. I don't quite remember why, but Tammy wore 2 outfits (wardrobe change I guess), and each photo is of here in a different outfit. I must have made quite an impression on her, because why would she sit through both. One of the photos Tammy is kissing me on the cheek. I also got her autograph, she wrote, "To Jake, With all my love, Tammy Wynette". OMG this just brought me to tears.
God I miss her.
Jake

I also used to attend church in Plano, and Chuck Norris was a member of that church. I remember one Sunday night standing not too far from him as he was chatting with some staff members.
