Um, Waco is very much on the way from Dallas to Austin. Much more so than College Station is on the way from Houston to Austin. Look at a map.

Lmfao, pardon me for starting my Friday night a little early.. I thought we were still talking about the Houston to Dallas line.

I'm not betting on a federally funded i35 line from San Antonio to Dalls happening anytime soon..

You may be right, but it really wouldn't make much sense to cut SA out of the network.

I completely agree. A triangle HSR network needs to eventually happen. But unless a private company decided to build out those lines then I don't see them happening anytime in the next couple decades.. We've all seen how the fed works when it comes to HSR out in California.

I hope this is not what the future of Texas HSR is going to be like..

"Mexico has abruptly cancelled a $3.75bn (£2.3bn) contract awarded on Monday for a Chinese-led consortium to build a high-speed passenger rail link.

President Enrique Pena Nieto said he wanted to avoid "any doubts about the legitimacy and transparency" of the bidding process."

Private companies don't build infrastructure, the government does
What happens is that the government sub-contracts private companies to do the work in the same way that you get your grass mowed, but you subcontract the work to a private company.

In few words, the funding comes from the government.

The Texas Central Railway Company needs to get together with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies to build an actual high speed train. TCRC has $10 billion ready to go for their train and HTT only needs $16 billion to build a hyperloop from L.A. to Las Vegas. With $10 billion, you could probably convince HTT to build a hyperloop from Dallas to Houston instead.
