Ellington Field is near me, but when I arrived in the Houston area it had already transitioned to the Air National Guard and NASA. I don't know when it stopped being under the Air Force's umbrella. Ok maybe that isn't truly defunct...

My dad retired at Carswell in about 1955. I was in second grade at Burton Hill.
There's also Tye AFB, initially known as Tye Army Air Field when it was established in December 1942. It was deactivated after the end of the war (WWII). I guess I don't really recall that, not being born at the time.
Then was reopened and became Dyess AFB where my dad took a civil service job.
He next took a job at NASA-MSC which didn't exist, but his office was at Ellington AFB. We used to go bowling there.

So I remember only one base on your list.

If you grew up on various AF bases, when was your first encounter with a civilian Doctor? I was 24.

Carswell is still there, it has simply evolved into Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base Naval Air Station. It's where they're building and testing the new F-35s.

Technically, the F35s are being built at Lockheed, which shares the runways with the JRB.

The old base hospital from Carswell is now a huge federal women's prison/medical center complex.
