Best Place in Texas To View A Sunset/Sunrise
If you get to know people like me, I have a thing for seeing the sky change colors. It is one of the most beautiful wonders of creation that you can ever witness. I love sunrises. I'm usually up early every morning (including my days off) and I enjoy seeing a sunrise from my bedroom window in my apartment. Now, many of you may not be early risers --- that's fine. I'm also awake at night so I can also view some great sunsets. It's great to see them, especially when I run errands at dusk, and have to drive west.
So, if any of you are into the sunrise/sunset thing, I'd like to hear from you. Now, I'll preface by saying that I've crowed previously about places near Lubbock and how they have great sunsets. Well, there are other places in Texas where you can view a sunset, sometimes even in the most unconventional of circumstances or situations and the most unusual of places. That's where you come in. If you have a favorite, let me know. Maybe it's your own backyard. It doesn't even have to be ordinary. If there's a romantic getaway spot you may have, don't be afraid to mention it. And please, folks, no cracks about the earth rotating --- -- we already know that.
It's time to take the plunge, because the blogging's just fine. The best place in the Lone Star State for sunrises and sunsets. What's yours?

My front yard. (Taylor County) Seriously! Right behind my neighborhood to the left there is a lovely little lake, a picturesque farm and a big ole tree that looks like the "whomping willow" in the Harry Potter books/films. And every evening we have SPECTACULAR sunsets! Reds and oranges, sometimes purple and dusky blue mixed in. The little lake helps reflect some of the colors and the "whomping willow" stands in contrast, a dark silhouette with all of its gnarly branches. It's just beautiful! I often sit on the porch and gaze.

The Oasis, up in the hills, NW of Austin. Watch the sun set over the lake.

I'd vote for the Big Bend and the Davis Mountains. Spectacular views!

If you have a few sunrise/sunset pics you'd like to share, don't hesitate to throw a few in.

Waking up to the sunrise over the gulf, camping on the beach at Mustang State Park was pretty nice...also at Purtis Creek they have some isolated tent camp sites overlooking part of the lake, beautiful sunrise with little flocks of birds flying here and there.

I'll second Lake Travis. But from my yard here in Hutto, I saw a really pretty one while jumping on the trampoline with my daughter. It had lots of pink to it, and later on it got a really pretty orangey color

I agree with Teatime as to the spectacular sunsets in Taylor County (Abilene area), but the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets I have seen are in the Panhandle. Magnificent!

South Padre Island. I used to have pictures but they are so packed away somewhere that I probably never see them again. Sounds like I need a vacation to take some more views of sunrises and sunsets.
