Default MILLS COUNTY and the small towns within

Would anyone be able to give me information from your perspective about Mills County or any of the small towns within the county? I've learned many things from the internet and have been through Goldthwaite a few times but at the time, I wasn't anticipating a move and recollect little about the area. I'd like to hear from someone who lives somewhere in the county and knows firsthand.

Thanks so much!!

I'm like to learn more about this county myself. Things such as how rough is the countryside (in regards to scrub trees, brush, rocks, etc.), how about the taxes there, the water or lack of it, utilities, law enforcement, any towns showing signs of growth, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Any comments from anyone would be appreciated. Mills County has a low population, just what I'm wanting, so possibly there isn't a soul on City Data who knows about the area.

Mills County...when I first started looking for some country property, for some reason MILLS COUNTY was where I had this feeling I needed to look. I guess part of the allure was that it's so far from any major city that you would be safe from any massive migration in case the s*** hits the fan (e.g. Houston hurricane mass migration to inland Texas, etc). There's just lots and lots of farmland between you and the next metro.

The principle town in the county is Goldthwaite (how do you pronounce that?) and i found the county website: Goldthwaite, Texas, Hill Country

Sorry I don't have anymore info. I'll have to take a drive up there and check it out myself.

i live sorta kinda near Goldthwaite and drive through it occasionally. it looks like a very nice small country town. i know that there is a cowboy church, just like the one i go to, in that town, and that there are quite a few good rodeos there, an active FFA and 4H.
i would live there if it were a reasonable commute to Ft Hood.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Mills County may be a great place, and I must check it out. It is definitely west of the mess that will be made if the Trans-Texas Cooridor becomes a reality. I just posted on the "Bosque County" thread about it. If that things goes through, it's going to really ruin a lot of beautiful countryside. I will definitely stay west of it, and Mills County is in that direction.

Bosque County Anyone?
