Very interesting discussion. Jack - I agree with you that development should happen where the water is. But this should have happened 50 - 75 years ago. Dallas/Houston are the major economic powerhouses of Texas with more companies moving in each month. Having water shortages would put brakes on the economic growth and would be bad for the state of Texas. I know that it's not right to continue economic development where it doesn't make sense from a natural resources perspective but it's a little late to shift that momentum to East Texas.

East Texas has been deprived of other infrastructure projects that would have facilitated more development locally, such as the completion of I-69 through the entire state. I don't think people realize that development in Texas has been highly influenced by political decisions in the past that have aided current development patterns.

Houston flooded with it's own filth.

Receding waters reveal at least 19 dead while 13 still missing as relentless storms parked over Texas threaten even MORE flooding | Daily Mail Online

You know, if we had some sort of water conveyance, that water could be safely stored in a reservoir somewhere. Oh well, I'm sure you guys won't mind wading through excrement for a while.

Putting the creepy rhetoric aside how is a water conveyance system supposed to stop local flooding ? It may mean less water would be released from some reservoirs, but its not going to stop local flooding, that's just ridicules, people need to get the dust out of their ears, .......

It's not rocket surgery. You leave some spare capacity in your local reservoirs by moving some water to other reservoirs, then when a flood comes it can be contained.

Move where the sewage is! Hurr!

You suggested that a water conveyance system would have prevented the flooding of the treatment plant which it would not have. Now you realize that, and are trying to recover some credibility but its too late for that. I already posted that a conveyance system would help relieve some of the need to release water from some reservoirs, but its still not worth it. You were in such a hurry to insult Houston you didn't think your rhetoric through, shot from the hip, and missed badly.

There are no alerts to boil water in the City of Houston because there is no need to boil any of "our" water.
