Funny thing, I had neen seen a baby roadrunner and had never even given it much thought until one day our cat came up with one. It was still alive, so we took it over to a friend of ours who takes in wounded birds and nurses them back to health. The poor little baby roadrunner didn't make it though. She said birds rarely survive after being attacked by a cat. It was sad.
I used to live in the same area and I would see roadrunners there as well. Always reminded me of that cartoon. I never knew they were supposed to be confined to West Texas.

Roadrunners are all over the place. I have my resident roadrunners here on my place outside of Burleson. We had them in Arlington (south Arlington) when I lived there, of course that was around 15 years ago. I always thought they were pretty common.

Guess I'll have to start noticing a little more. But they can't be any faster than my boat.

GayleTX will become famous soon enoughGayleTX will become famous soon enough
When we lived north of Bonham, We had a little family of them that lived down the road for many years......they were very private and we'd only see them a few times a year frantically crossing the road in the same spot. Guess there were several generations of them in our years there but we never saw more than one at a time and we never saw them anywhere but that one spot among heavy cedar trees.

I have a place in Karnes County and used to see roadrunners all the time but I have not seen any this year. Maybe all the wild hogs are running them off.
