Smile Looking to Relocate

I have been thinking about relocating to Texas in about a year. I was wondering what are some good areas for a young teacher to reside. I was born in San Antonio but have not been there in years. I know that I don't want live in Austin. Please help!!

San Antonio has a lot to offer and there are several good school districts that are definitely looking for more teachers as the city continues to grow.
Check out the SA forum.

San Antonio is just another large city with traffic, crime, and hot humid summers. The river walk pales compared with the Platte River going through Denver. Texas in general is way behind the rest of the country when it comes to education. Do a search of Rand Report 2005. If it wasnt for Louisiana, Alabama and Miss wed be the worst.

There are still some decent schools in the outskirts and a few small towns. Rockport -Gregory Portland are near me and pretty good.

Flour Bluff and Calallen in the corpus christi district are nice. Many of these places have nice ocean breezes during the summer that moderate the heat. Austin and San Antonio do not.

Default try west Houston

For a young teacher the Katy area would be great for you. Austin isn't what it once was. Dallas is nice, but over half the population is from the north. SA is okay, and not too far from west Houston (Katy). The only problem right now is the road construction! I-10 is all messed up! However it will be done in a few years. Just my thoughts.

I agree, try the nicer areas of Houston or San Antonio. If you are already familiar with San Antonio I would look there, unless you really want somewhere new for you. I also agree about Austin, lived there for years and it is overrated and just getting worse because too many people have moved there and it has developed most of the big-city problems but still has few big-city amenities.
