Question Highest projected growth: Austin or Dallas?

I've been trying to fine out which city--Austin or Dallas--has the highest percentage of projected growth for 2015 and 2020. So far, no luck. Anyone know this information and willing to share?

This is a rather long read, but has lots of data:

Summary of Trends in Texas State Data Center 2006 Population Projections

This table breaks down projected growth for various areas:

http://txsdc.utsa.edu/tpepp/2006proj...prstab-06t.txt

From two of the more probable scenarios, it looks like both Austin and DFW will increase their populations by 100-200%. Which area increases faster depends on which scenario you use.

It's still going to be Dallas and still going to be the northern suburbs. The more things change, the more things stay the same, as the saying goes. Everybody will still be moving here and there won't be any empty land remaining in this region. Don't expect anything to slow down.

Yeah, you're going to have some fun trying to get the answer to your question. Most of the information that is available is already outdated and the new stuff either underestimates or overestimates projected metro populations. This is why I don't like statistics, you're never sure of anything.

I would say the region from the DFW suburbs down the I 35 corridor to Waco/Temple, Austin and San Antonio are going to explode

Well, if you are just looking at only those two places, the Metroplex would have big projections numerically, but the Austin area would have percentage gains. You'd have to think about that one. But neither area expects any kind of a slide.

Just to clear something up....

When you say DALLAS, do you mean the city or the whole Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Becuase if it is just Dallas, then the numbers might be a little different.
In my eyes, it's not really fair if you say Dallas, but include all the surounding cities.

I agree, JJG. We need specifics.

Houston may not be winning the sprints right now, but somehow I think they win the marathon.

Texas may turn into Illinois with Houston as the Chicago. Maybe the state capital will end up back here. Houston always wins!
