I have seen more than one post asking for information or opinions regarding good and/or inexpensive nursing programs in Texas. The program at Grayson County College meets both those criteria and has for many years. There is on-campus housing (rare for a junior college); the local area - Sherman/Denison - is a safe and inexpensive community for a young person to live in. The faculty/staff is very caring and supportive - I've had many high school students go on to GCC and become very successful.
(This is not a promotion - just an opinion from an old high school guidance counselor backing it up with current statistics

The Grayson County College Associate Degree (ADN) and Vocational Nursing (VN) program faculty and recent graduates are celebrating a major milestone of having a 97 percent pass rate for each respective state licensing exam.
Seventy-six of the 78 May 2007 graduates of the ADN program took and passed the exam on their first attempt at taking the NCLEX-RN Examination. The 97 percent success rate is well above the state average of 89 percent.
Thirty-six of 37 students in the year-long Licensed Vocational Nursing program were successful on their first attempt at taking the NCLEX-PN Examination. The 97.6 percent pass rate was also above the state average.
