Default Schools

I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. My husband and I are moving to TX this year. We really like the Hill Country. I have a son and my main concern is schools. How can I find out which schools are good and which aren't? Is there a link someone can give me?

What towns/cities in the Hill Country have decent housing prices? I looked into Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Wimberley (b/c they're so beautiful) but the housing prices seemed high to me.

Thanks in advance

Google Texas Education Agency Region 13 - that area encompasses most of the school districts in the Hill Country. You can get a list of the schools there and can look up each school's accountability rating and TAKS scores (state tests) thru the TEA or Reg 10 website (there is an explanation of the terms on the TEA website). Because that part of the country is dominated by retirees, there is not a lot of emphasis and funding focused on the schools there, but there are acceptable schools in the area.

You won't find inexpensive housing in the Hill Country. It has in the past few years become 'hot property' for well-to-do retirees, and the price of both houses and land has greatly increased.
