I grew up in Lockhart and I can tell you there's far better places to raise a family. Like most once fine Texas towns it has been chewed up and spit out by the Mexican Mafia. They've filled the city with crime and manipulate the local Hispanic population to do their dirty work. Daniel Law has been the same worthless Sheriff for 20 years now and its well known hes still in office because of his ties to them, looking the other way to big crime in exchange for their help garnering Latino votes(44% of voters). He had three deputies quit on him last year alone. What does that tell you? Its a big problem everywhere in South Texas but it sure is sad to watch it happen. A great town for retirees and the schools there are still pretty decent, but I personally wouldn't want to raise my children in that kind of environment. To each their own though
