Many of these use faulty methodology or are so superficial that they are only there to sell banner ads.

This one is better than most. I like Marfa - although its a bit isolated. I disagree Wimberley has nice weather -its as hot and humid as the rest of the state. Rockport is great but they could have used a much better photo. It may be my favorite small town in TX because of the ocean and friendliness.

... Thanks for publishing that link ... I think there are a whole-lot-more small TEXAS towns that could be put on a list. Problem is, the list might be about 100-deep!
Anyone got their favorite suggestions? ...

The only one on the list I would not agree with is Rockwall . I worked on their school 5 yrs ago and from what I saw it was just another cookie cutter suburb of Dallas. I'm not sure what makes a burb of Big D special.

I would replace it on the list with La Grange.

Rockwall is one above average -affluent and also has a cool location in it's own county which makes it unique.

Names are misleading. These are more like small towns, not cities. Small city would be like San Angelo, Abilene, Weatherford, etc.

Out of this list, I think I've only been to Strawn. That name definitely sounds familiar. Looking at pics though, looks like a lot of towns in that area. It's by Eastland, which I think is pretty nice for it's size.

Rockport is surprisingly nice but even with the ocean breezes its still hot in summer ( maybe 7 degrees cooler than Austin). There are no cool spots in Texas summerwise - maybe Ft Davis, but if you can go there you might as well go to Ruidoso or Cloudcroft Nm - great summer places.
