Presidio. Wow. I had to look up the company...a company in Florida selling tracts in one of the most remote areas, and I mean really remote, in Texas. I don't know the company, I do know a bit about the area. Unless looking for hunting acreage (maybe?) I'd be a bit skeptical. In fact, after looking at their photos (a single "entrance" over a dirt road leading to nothing) I'm skeptical about this (single) post! No offense if you are serious.

That sounds WORSE than the Sunset Ranches in Sierra Blanca. At least they ar fairly close to bigger towns and the interstate. Presidio is SO isolated...not even a decent hospital for hundreds of miles...

The map shows a really weird layout. One long strip of land with several lots closest to the Rio Grande shown as "sold." Those being the most desirable from the standpoint of at least having some salt cedars and greener brush. The rest of that land is just greasewood desert with no access to utilities indicated - IOWs, worthless desert acres.

Street View is not available. The main road is FM 170. The small road to the southwest is the road at the edge of the area, as shown on the map on the company's web site.

The first step would be to check with the county to see if the area is legally platted. It does appear that there is at least a primitive road system, as shown on the map. The web site says that all sites are surveyed and staked off. The county might be able to verify that.

As you can see in the aerial photography, the area near 170 is quite bare, and the area near the river is more vegetated. I'm sure the land is quite cheap, and that's because it's nearly worthless. If all you want it for is camping or hunting, that's about all it's good for, but it's in a very remote area. You'd have to travel a long way for that recreation. If you're wanting to live out there, even part-time, you'll need to give that decision intensive consideration and read what others engaged in the wilderness living experience have to say about it. That whole part of the state is a tough area, requiring a special constitution. That close to the border, I'd also be concerned about immigration, smuggling, and other illegal activity.

Yes, I was looking at that map as well. Don't get me wrong, I've always dreamed about having some acreage out that way (even desert...not everyone's thing but I think it has it's own beauty), but I also enjoy water and electricity.
