The only burger place, outside of the usual chains, that I know of that is good in Amarillo is Mr. Burger. It is a chain also but seems to be in West Texas, Oklahoma. I don't think that I've ever had a burger in Lubbock!

Casino El Camino has the best burgers in Austin - it's a 45-60 minute wait but worth it. 3/4 of medium rare goodness. If the cook doesn't like the looks of you he won't make you one either. Gotta like that.
The Tap Room and Centerpoint Station in San Marcos have very good burgers too. Centerpoint is right across I-35 from the outlet malls and they make their own buns too - white, wheat or jalapeno cheese.

Went to East Texas Burger Company in Mineola during the July 4th weekend, it was a good burger, but far from the best that I have tried in other places. I like a good flavor/seasoning in hamburger meat, ETBC was just plain in flavor to me.
The place has good atmosphere, and I'd stop again, but I would try something else on the menu.

Wallbanger's in Corpus Christi has awesome burgers and a great atmosphere. Better than Whataburger's and bigger!

Well, James, I just did. A couple of weeks ago, in fact. Lubbock has a place called the Caprock Cafe, which has a pretty good charbroiled burger with fries.

Sounds like the Soup Nazi, doesn't it? Maybe it's the Burger Nazi. I guess I'd better look good for this fellow. Any three-quarter-pound burger would be worth a try.

Also, an update. I've become a big fan of Scotty P's in Frisco and they've got the best charbroiled burger in my part of the country. Even though I prefer melted American cheese on my burger, I don't seem to mind the grated cheddar. It fits perfectly on their chili cheeseburger.

In SA, ARMADILLOS (former LITTLE HIPPS) is my fav, and they have those giant bugers too. Also good are FUDRUCKERS, CHESTERS and a lot of non-burger places.

In Lubbock, my favorites are Buns Over Texas (know the owner himself), Bonus Burger and Caprock Cafe in that order.

Kincaid's in Fort Worth
So many new places to try when I get back to Texas, but I can't imagine finding anything that comes close to the burgers at Kincaid's in Fort Worth!
Funny, I was just talking about this on another thread, and then I saw this one.
Just had to give another shout-out to the sublime burgers at Kincaid's.
I see some others here agree with me.
The meat is unbelievably tasty and fresh, and the burgers are huge and juicy.
(This thread is making me so hungry right now!)

As my name indicates, I travel all over the south and have had some of the best and worst burgers in my travels. But there is a burger joint in Longview that has probably one of the best old fashioned burgers I have had anywhere. Jucy's Hamburgers serves giant fresh burgers that are so good they will make you slap your mama. The meat is gound just for them and they serve 'em on a toasted bun with all the fixins you want. Their home made fries are so good you'd fight off a pit bull for them. And, to top it off, while you're waiting for your burger, you can enjoy a free bowl of spicy pinto beans. They have a couple stores in Longview, and I think one in Tyler and maybe Kilgore. Not sure where else. Pretty much a local chain, but worth the drive from wherever you are.

I agree with Jucy's. Had one here locally in Mesquite for a couple of years until they closed about two years ago. I am still mourning their loss and will offer a reward for their bean recipe to anyone who can furnish it to me.
