I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned but the Food Network has declared that the best burger in Texas is at Perini Ranch steakhouse in Buffalo Gap, which is near Abilene. In fact, in our newspaper today, there's an article stating that Tom Perini will be on the Today Show tomorrow morning fixing his burger!

I've had the burger and it IS incredibly good! The kids got theirs on the homemade sourdough bun with fries but I got mine by itself with a choice of side dishes. Can't remember what side dishes I ordered but they were very different and very tasty!!!

Default Herd's

Hand's down, Herd's burgers in Jacksboro. A close second would be Brads burgers In Lampasas.

There used to be a place in Kermit TX, the Kermit Drive In, that served burgers as big as pizzas. Literally. They had burgers in three sizes, and the large was bigger around than a large dinner plate, and it could be cut up and serve four with a decent appetite. The Kermit Drive in was right down town, on the main intersection, but had a drive in bay. It burned down sometime in the 80s, and they rebulit in some goofy out of the way place, but was apparently not successful, there is now no place with that name. When my son was 8, we went in there, and he ordered a medium, and heroically ate about half of it.

Not far from Kermit, in Mentone TX there was a little cafe, and the guy there made incredible burgers, but he ran it all by himself, and it was closed if he had to go anywhere, and from Mentone, you always have to go somewhere, no matter what you needed.

I've been there. The burgers were nothing to brag about.

I say that the best in Dallas is Jack's Burger House in Dallas and the best I've had in Texas is at Kincaid's in Ft. Worth.

The best burger I've ever had was in a little dive outside of Springfield IL--I can't even remember the name of the town, but it was a top notch sammich.

I love it when you're waiting for your burger and they come over the loud speaker to announce your order is ready "Cobolt, your buns are up!" LOL
