I just found out my latest temp job will be ending in December - we've had it with this area, its difficult to find full time steady work and tired of our winters. I keep hearing there are a lot of jobs in Houston or Dallas and salaries are higher - I do clerical work. How can I find out what salary I might make? I'm guessing temp work(to start with) is better in the city. Temp agencies don't always want to give a salary range until they meet with you.

We could make the move but it would be very tight to pay those beginning rental deposits till paychecks start up. Would it be better to commute from a cheaper area for lower rents? Its hard to find out about private rentals from another state, which might be less than a complex. Borderline-nice areas would be ok, only we need to be near a decent high school.

I know it would be difficult at best if we stayed here (harder to find jobs in winter), if we move at least we have a chance for better because the job market seems much better.

Any suggestions about where I could find work right away, cheaper rentals?

Your best bet to check out jobs in the area are

www.monster.com

Yahoo hotjobs

texas.computerjobs.com

As for commuting from cheaper areas, meaning smaller towns. It would be one heck of a commute into Dallas from a rural area.

Thank you for the job information sites. Sounds like I really need to be within commuting distance for a rental.
