No sports teams.

CTC is more of a commuter college. Classes are year round. I would not describe it as a typical "college". It is designed for commuters & is located directly off of the highway. All different age groups attend. Has a decent reputatiuon.

We were stationed there for a little over 4 yrs & left in early '07. I had my first child at Darnell, which is the hospital on Ft Hood but my pediatrican was off post. Absolutely wonderful practice called ABC Pediatrics in Killeen. I was recommend to them and would pass on the recommendation.

If possible, recommend trying to have your baby at Kings Daughters Hospital in Temple. Scott & White is just overcrowded & I never heard good things about it along with Metroplex. A few of our friends delivered at Kings & it was a good experience for them. A little bit of a drive but probably worth it.

Keep in mind you are moving to a military town. VERY crowded & lots of traffic. That being said, there is a specialness to military towns. People will accept you as you are. Keep an open mind. Also, be aware of your surroundings. With deployments & field problems, some folk like to prey on women they think are vulnerable. Just be aware & smart!

There is so much to rent & what you can get for your $$ there is incredible.

Killeen is a dog friendly town. I think everyone we knew who had a home had a dog.

Best of luck. Be prepared for the heat There are many things to do with children throughout Cove, Killeen, & Harker Heights.

If you practice a religion, I suggest getting involved in a church. Very popular around the area.

I am so not ready for the heat! I am warm blooded anyway and being pregnant in the summer will make me even hotter! I am sick of the cold weather and snow here in Ks though. We have been pummeled with snow and a huge ice storm this year. We lost power for a full week in December due to the ice. Maybe warm weather wont be so bad after all......
