Usual my travel interests are focused on foreign countries, but it may sound strange but rcently I've been very interested in Texas. Mainly Houston and Dallas. I would love to visit. Heck I wouldn't mind moving there, but I'm concerned about a drought and worry there may be a scarcity of water.

If you're worried about drought, focus on the eastern portion of the state. Sure, check out the big cities, but also consider smaller cities which offer a short drive to the big metros without having to fight traffic, congestion, noise and high COL 24/7.

I would worry about future droughts and problems with affordable & available water in at least 80% of the state.

I know what you mean. Even though I live in the US, I've never been to Texas, but it seems like it would suit me.

Forget about the drought cycles, be concerned about the extreme heat.

Heat is subjective. Having grown up in the south, northeast Texas feels great to me. I barely even break a sweat till it gets over 95 degrees - and there really aren't that many days in the year that it goes much over 95.

Texas is a very well developed state. Dallas and Houston are like any other big city in the world. You will have plenty of water to drink, bathe in, etc. That is really a bizarre concern.

Don't be worried about scarcity of water. As dry as Texas is, it's not southern California or Arizona. The heat is a bigger issue. I dread the coming 100 degrees days of summer, but there's so much to enjoy in this state that I wouldn't mind living here a little longer. Small town high school football games in the fall, a variety of scenery and cities, theme parks galore, amazing beef, barbecue and Mexican food. Come on down!
