Butterfly, you apparently have not lived in Midland that long if you say you don't get the tornadoes!! I grew up in West TX and it is not uncommon to have 3-4 tornado warnings in the area a week during the summer and spring months!! LOL

From stats of the past, Midland County does and has had tornadoes but in many years, only one F3 has been reported. The others have been F0s and F1s.

Sounds great but San Antonio Spurs have one 4 World championships! You forgot too mention UTSA, with about 30,000 students, only 20,000 less than UT Austin.

I just wanted to report that Abilene is not even on a respirator, much less dead. There has been a population drop--very minor--since 2000, but the Chamber of Commerce has signs all over town indicating that we have gained almost 4000 jobs in the last few years, and our unemployment is just barely 3%. There are help wanted signs on many, many places. Looks to me like we need folks to move in.

I'm Moving to Galveston, or near there very soon. Hurricanes can be a problem, Florida gets more than its fair share. But at least you get a warning and can get out of town before they hit.

It's New BRAUNFELS, not New BRAUNSFEL....and you're right; it's a fabulous place to live. Not too big, not too small, plenty of fun stuff to do, and close enough to Austin or San Antonio if you ever have to get your "big city" fix.

I was born and raised in Florida. I would move back in a heart beat if I could afford it! No place like it!

The best place in Texas to live would have to be Kamay, either there or ten miles down the road is Holliday Texas, now we have a post office in Kamay, but Holliday has a post office, a Dairy Queen, but we got more cattle and horses out here than they do.
