Why do Texans refer to all soda as "Coke"? (Houston: sale, how much)

You can definitely get them at any Mexican market here, but I haven't really seen them in restaurants.

Yeah, it does! Years ago in Arlington there was an Albertson's off of Arkansas and Cooper (no longer there) that hung new signs in the aisles. The drink aisle was labeled "Pop". When I saw that, I thought "what yankee is in charge at that store to put up a sign like that?" Several weeks later it was replaced with "Soda".

My Kroger has an aisle labeled "Dr. Pepper products" !

I haven't noticed a difference here in Texas compared to California regarding this. But I am originally from Ohio and there they say POP! When I moved from Ohio to California, I would say pop and no one knew what the heck I was talking about!! Oh and we would say "supper" instead of dinner in Ohio. It's just what region you are in.

I meant to say nopales, but had brain freeze at the last second, so put cactus instead. They have a guy at the H.E.B here who has his little area in the produce section where they peel and slice it and sell it by the bagful. I bought some once, but my daughter didn't like it and kept picking them out of her eggs. My best friend in high school my junior year was from Omaha and called cokes "pop". We ended up calling each other Aliens because of how we thought what each other called it was weird. But, since she was outnumbered there, she got teased worse.

I AM a huge fan, and I was delighted to find fresh bagged nopales locally.....

I love them in salads, with eggs and in stews. MMMM...................

Frosted Cokes when I was a kid were simply two (or three) scoops of ice cream in a tall glass with "Cokola" poured over it. It made a great, frothy, and tasty head. Sometimes we used Dr. Pepper. Is that what you remember being a frosted coke?

My mom used to make those all the time, but called them coke floats. I think this little diner in town when i was a kid made them like that and called them frosted cokes. we'd walk by there after school and get them. My grandpa put ice in his and mixed them in the blender, but don't know if he added ice cream.

Another thing I remember as a kid was my mom making us hot dr. pepper with lemon whenever we got sick.
