Corpus Christi-Good place to move to? (Port Aransas, South Padre Island: affordable houses, travel, houses)

I didn't see the baby turtles but we have alot of those in our yard here in Oklahoma. We are on 2 1/2 acres and it seems they are everywhere but then we have a creek on our property too.

Chickrae, that area of Ok is so pretty. We really liked it east of Tulsa~very close to the Ark. border. It's interesting to know that you like Tx. We've never been to either, (Galveston or CC) but somehow Galveston just really sounds nice.

I have read so many bad posts about CC and I just didn't find it to be that way. I haven't lived there but we drove around alot, so I was really impressed. My son lives in Houston so when I go there we drive to Galveston and eat by the beach or walk on the beach and its nice too.

I've never been able to see that in person, but I've heard stories and it sounds like an amazing sight.

FWIW, North Beach (aka Corpus Christi Beach) is on Corpus Christi Bay while (north) Padre Island beaches, including the National Seashore, Mustang Island and Port Aransas, are Gulf of Mexico beaches. The water and waves are different. I would never swim in a Corpus Christi Bay beach because I don't like to think about the runoff. But they're nice to walk on.

Also, when people talk about South Padre Island, they're talking about the town of SPI and it's beach, which are located about 150 miles south of Corpus Christi, very close to the Texas Mexico border.

So the Corpus Christi beach (north beach) is a run off then? It's better to swim in the water by Port Aransas? I knew South Padre Island and Port Isabel was way south by Mexico but then my daughter-en-law kept talking about Padre Island and so I was getting confused thinking she was talking about the one by Mexico. We were thinking of moving way down there but it seems too far away.

Chickrae- Padre Island is what I was talking about when I said The Island. You actually go through the Island to get to Port A unless you take the ferry.

Well, all the storm water in CC drains into the bay. It's a big body of water, but it still sorta creeps me out. It's worse the closer you get to downtown and Ocean Drive. I generally prefer to swim in the Gulf.

It's sort of hard to get a handle on the geography unless you look at a map. Then you'll see the barrier islands and the bays.
