Hi rbekt, I lived in B/CS for four years as a student at Texas A&M, and although I never owned a home there, my college job was pizza delivery so I got to know the neighborhoods pretty well. First on a list if I had kids would be Pebble creek on greens prarie rd. Nice area, sidewalks, friendly neighbors and not many partying students. This may be a little pricey though from what I have heard. Second is Emerald forest which is at the eastern end of 2818, again nice homes, friendly neighbors, sidewalks and has a playground with swimming pool. Third is castlegate on greens prarie rd. Kind of unique because of a kind of castle theme to it. Huge doors for example, holds all the attributes of the other two. There is also a nice subdivision off of the south bound feeder off highway 6 between barron and southern plantation rds (I can't remember the name of the subdivision though). It has playgrounds, pool, sidewalks etc. the homes also seem a little smaller, but good people there. You can't go wrong with any of these areas, I do not know Bryan too well, but College Station is more "upscale" than Bryan. Let me know if you would like more info

Here are some of the apartments in CS. I would try and stay in College Station. It isn't that hard to get around in CS, so if he could take a day to drive around and look at places that would be his best bet. Maybe you could find 4 or 5 that look interesting to check out from checking out the link. Good luck and if you or he has any questions, be sure and ask.

Yep, for 125K you will be limited in CS but you might have more options in Bryan or outside the city in Caldwell, Navasota, etc. You can probably get a pretty decent house in Rain Tree Subdivision for 125K, you just have to watch out for student neighborhoods, they are a little noisier than the others and have lots of cars parked on the roads. CS is a great place to live!
