What I miss? The strong, quiet, unassuming Texan who knew his worth but didn't brag about it, didn't whoop it up in restaurants, didn't use decibels instead of brains.

And yes, that was not a fiction. I have lived long enough to see the changes.

I miss the days when rural Texas was quiet and churchy, especially in East Texas. Once cable came to town, people started filling up their brains with Fox News, rather than the Good News. Before about 1990, people could depend on and trust each other, and see the best in others. Now, most are into judging and attacking others, and ready to find those evil "liberuls and US enemies" under every rock. People went from happy and at peace, to angry and nervous.

Bye, bye Texas mountains, we miss you!
When I was growing up, we would travel on West Mt. Houston Rd. (in NW Houston) & I always asked my parents Why can't we go hike up the Mountain!!

Only two anchor cities in that area and Arlington ain't one of them.[/quot
the official government title for the metroplex is the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Personally, I prefer not to identify with a "plaited womb".

But it's not the "Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metroplex"... it's not the "Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington International Airport".

Arlington is not a major city, it's not an anchor city, and it still depends on BOTH Dallas and Fort Worth for basic amenities a city needs.

It's "DFW", period.
