Default Texan, Southern, and American

I just had to share this with my fellow Texans on the Texas thread...because I don't know any other way to get this classic piece to all y'all. I just hope it works.

I always liked that bumper sticker "American by Birth. Southern by the Grace of God." And naturally, there is the uniquely Texas twist on it that goes something like" American by Birth, Southern by history, and Texan by the Grace of God!" LOL (Gotta love us Texans independent spirits!)

But anyway, to compliment what is presented in the link below, I just want to rephrase and say Texan, Southern and American ALL...by the Grace of God.

Ragged Old Flag

Thanks TexasReb for sending this link. It has been a long time since I've heard this 'song' by the great Johnny Cash. They used to play it on the radio, but this is such a unique way to display this great piece from an equally great artist. I realized I have used the term 'great' numerous times, but all I can say is, THIS IS GREAT. I, too, am sending it to all of my friends.

Thank you Reb! I don't think I've heard this song but am now putting it in my favorites and showing it to my kids. As a former military wife and my hubby is a Air Force retiree, I am sure proud of that flag.

Y'all are all welcome!

I remember the song from back in the early 70's, and have it downloaded, but had never seen the video clip until my girlfriend found and showed it to me. She is a former WAVE, and one of the affinities we have is a shared love of anything patriotic and traditional (of course, being from Colorado, she doesn't quite get into Yellow Rose of Texas or Dixie like I do! LOL).

But anyway, when she showed it to me, I plead proudly guilty to getting all misty and teary eyed and choked up...dadgummit!

Thanks

I am a fourth generation native Texan, and no offence in turn and with all due respect, but those of us who are Texans never presume to speak for other fellow Texans, unless we have and can identify where the right comes from and what group we are speaking for! That is to say, we let each other speak for our ownselves as to how we feel as to what company we keep!

Anyway, as far as the undeniable kinship relation with other states of the Old Confederacy? Wellll, maybe it is like grits. Maybe they AREN'T my favorite breakfast staple...but I don't like no yankees gettin' too upitty about 'em. We all fought on the same side of the creek when it mattered...and they are all kinfolk up the line somewhere. And I'd rather eat fried chicken and blackeyed peas with them folk than quiche and endive salad with the Haight-Ashbury or Fifth Avenue residents any day of the week.

You know something? THAT is a good question! LOL I remember seeing it at one time, but even after I mentioned it, and posted it, I got to thinking, I really CAINT remember exactly WHERE I first saw it! It has been quite a few years ago, I know that! LOL

Seems like it was in some little curio shop in East Texas....?
