The best place depends on your occupation and social preferences.

I think the only occupational things San Antonio wins at is healthcare and maybe call centers. I would also think it is more family oriented, but if you are young and single idk.

It wouldn't be my first choice to find educated professionals with no kids.

San Antonio is probably better than Austin for healthcare, cybersecurity, hospitality and tourism, biomedical, and military contractor jobs. The city also has more federal jobs, in general. I believe the school districts in San Antonio also pay more than the ones in the Austin area.

Austin is better for state, county, and municipal jobs; mental health; social services; EMT (if you don't want to be a firefighter); IT; corrections; and law enforcement. Austin firefighters are also paid more than SA firefighters now, but the difference isn't big enough to make up for the higher cost of living.

Are you actually serious? Austin is not some far flung area that you can only get to by boat or plane, it is and hour north by car or 2 hours and $10 via Greyhound.

Aerospace is another major industry for San Antonio roughly a $7 plus billion dollar economic driver for the city.
