Could you name some cities/towns with good schools for families. (can be anywhere in Texas we have not decided on an area) Also reasonably priced houses. If you had it do do again where do you wish you had bought a home to raise your family?
Thanks
p.s. if you list could you please add a little description about the area, how far from stores, how far from austin, houston, or dallas?

You should post this in the Texas forum. There are hundreds of threads on this subject.

Also, you need to narrow down your criteria. Texas is a very big place.

Do you have a job? Don't move anywhere without having a job first. It may not be as easy as one thinks, to just move to Texas and find a job right away.

Why are you going to Texas if you have the entire huge state as a possibility?

You must have more reasons and criteria than good schools, reasonably priced housing (what is "reasonable" to you?), stores, etc.

I'd go where I had the best job offer so long as it wasn't too far from the Hill Country.

Definitely find a job and let that guide wherever you live. There are great areas to live all over Texas.

Maybe this is a good FIRST post/search for you, however you need to share a lot more about you likes, wants, needs. Need work, retiring. If work what are you qualified to do. Why Austin, Houston, Dallas. How far is NOT too far. Around here we usually speak in TIME, not miles, necessarily.

Dry, Humid, and are you prepared for the brutal Texas Summers? Visit in July and August, you may chose Minnesota instead, lol

In general, housing prices will be higher in the largest cities. In smaller cities and especially small towns, housing prices will be more affordable.

Maybe you could narrow things down a little?

Pick a city near the Mexican border. There will be lots of construction jobs for the new wall. They will be hiring Americans only.

I moved to Texas without a job and found a job. This was in 2011, in difficult recessionary times. There are situations where you have to relocate first and then do your job search when you are already local.

With that said though, it was a grueling job search and I generally wouldn't recommend that strategy unless there were some special circumstances.
