Default Los Fresnos

Ah, Los Fresnos, my old hometown. . .

Many lovely people, a small town that serves as a "suburb" of Brownsville, good schools (for the most part), lots of farming, the wind always blows, you get to watch thousands of Spring Breakers trekking to South Padre (be careful crossing Hwy. 100!). It's a really cool place to live for some people; some people would hate it.

A few years back, I had the opportunity to visit LF with my my family; my kids both cried when it was time to come home (to Austin). It was so different from what they were used to, they loved it.

It's neat being close to the island, close to Mexico. Just don't get in a hurry about anything, and take life as it comes and you'll be fine.

Los Fresnos is a nice small town, very close to South Padre Island and Brownsville/Mexico. The people are friendly and I don't think there's much crime - it's a one (or two, or maybe three now) stop light city through downtown. There's a rodeo arena that might be fun to go to and watch and also a dance/restaurant/rodeo arena called Winks that is nearby, closer to the highway. I hope you have friends/family there as there's not much else to do.

one more thing ... be careful driving through Los Fresnos, drive the speed limit, it's a speed trap.
