Valley Mills Near Waco, Considering a Move There?
I'm considering a move to Valley Mills, near Waco. I've been looking at the Waco threads but don't see Valley Mills mentioned when various neighborhoods and suburbs are discussed. I've driven through there several times and the people seem friendly and the place seems quiet. What is the job situation in Waco and WHY IS THE CRIME RATE SO HIGH IN WACO? I'm really surprised about that. I've lived in Houston, Corpus, Denver, Santa Fe, NM, Forth Worth, Granbury and now Kerrville. and it just seems very strange that a small city like Waco would have such a high crime rate. My son wants me to try Austin where he lives, but Austin is so fast-paced that I get a little overwhelmed when I visit and try to go anyplace. So the thought of living in another small town and commuting the 24 miles to Waco to work seemed like an ok idea. Kerrville is nice, but it costs a lot to live here. Any input would be appreciated!

I think that living in Valley Mills, a nice little town, would be great. Commuting to Waco wouldn't be bad. I wouldn't want to live in Waco because over the years, the crime has really skyrocketed. Working there and going home at night to the peace and quiet of a small town makes having to travel a bit worth it, in my opinion anyway.

The crime in Waco usually relates to people dealing drugs or getting revenge.

Whatever the reason, it has skyrocketed.
