Default Stupid and silly street names

I enjoy driving around new subdivisions, looking at the new homes going up although I am not in the market to buy. I have noticed there is a trend to name the new streets in ways that defy all common sense. Some are hard to pronounce, with difficult spellings, and would be virtually impossible to correctly communicate over the phone. Why is this?

I used to live on Bois D'Arc St., (pronounced "Bo Dark") and well over half my mail understandably had misspellings. Also, I noticed silly names, like "Dell Dale" for example. Trying to be cute, I guess, but will certainly cause confusion with that spelling. Your thoughts?

Here in the Tyler area...we have streets that have 3 different names....example:
Jim Hogg Rd, also known as South St., also known as CR431. Depending on who you talk to is how they give you the address!
My personal favorite is Easy St.

Anyone been to Lake Jackson lately? When I was there, they were all 'Ways' (instead of streets or lanes), and they were named 'This Way' and 'That Way' and 'Any Way' etc, etc.

Um, Bois d'Arc is a tree native to Texas. Hardly silly.

Re: bois d'arc in Texas

Noted for its many uses, the bois d' arc tree is an important part of the history and folklore of Northeast Texas. Bois d'arc has found its way into the place names of Hunt County and Northeast Texas. Almost every city in North Texas has a bois d'arc street. Bois d'Arc Springs, 17 miles north of Bonham, feeds into the Bois d' Arc Creek, that flows into the Red River at the northeastern corner of Fannin-Lamar county line. Bonham, the county seat of Fannin County, was first called Bois d' Arc.

In our new development all the streets are old testament books of the bible, i.e, Isiah Court, Hosea Court, Ezekiel Court, etc.

Hey, now, that's an innovative approach, Trainwreck. I highly endorse that idea, actually. It's fresh and different. Oh, outsiders might think it's confusing, but other than that.......

I'm very familiar with those streets in Lake Jackson. When I was a teenager, I lived in Brazoria and my dad lived in Lake Jackson. We'd go spend every other weekend with him, and if any of my friends came to visit while I was there I'd tell them to take those streets. For a while they thought I was making it up.

Stay tuned. Someone might have one.

By the way, in the stupid category are generic names such as Hotel Drive or Convention Center Blvd. Also, Sports Street comes to mind. Those ideas are just boring as heck, over the top, and way too obvious. You need something a little less obvious. People could have come up with better, more creative names than those. I'd much rather see less generic names when naming streets.

In the silly category, I found one in Flower Mound that was quite hilarious. It's called Roads End. No joke.
