The Texan is on a distinguished road
Newton County, Texas.

The three principal towns there are Burkeville, Newton, and Deweyville. It is the easternmost county in Texas -- the eastern "bulge" on Texas maps -- and the people are friendly, no matter what race or religion you are. This is in contrast to neighboring Jasper and Vidor, which are known for racism; for example, a black man was dragged to death in Jasper a few years ago, and Vidor is almost completely white. Although Newton County is right beside these areas, the people are so much more friendly it's as if they are thousands of miles apart.

There are beautiful piney woods and lakes, and this is the rainiest county in Texas, so if you like rain, this is the place.

Default Away From Tornadoes??

If you are trying to get away from tornadoes, then East Texas would probably fit what you're looking for, since that region tends to have the least of them in Texas.

There aren't many tornadoes in trans-Pecos Texas either, but they can happen almost anywhere, since a big one severely damaged Saragosa several years ago, with loss of life. A very unlikely event. I'd rather live in the Alpine-Marfa-Fort Davis area than anywhere else in Texas.

Do you think you can convince about 100,000 people to move to Fort Stockton? It just might help those small West Texas towns out. That area really needs something. Paisano Pete could use a buddy or two.

Good ol' San Marvelous, Tx.

I'd say San Marcos. You have the small community, river (two), spring lake, hike n bike trails, university, outlets, and some good places to eat. Only thing are the college kids who can get rowdy sometimes and drive a little crazy.

Best of luck.

goodmorning,
I live in the small town of Ladonia, its sets in a good location as we are app. 1-1/2 hours from dfw, plenty of lakes in area for camping and fishing, alot of horse activities and 4h /ffa for the kids. and someday lake ralph hall will be here. there is the fosil park to look for bones and arrowheads. Close enough to work in a larger town and live in ta small country town.

Default Graham

I would say Graham, Tx. We're right about 2 hours west of Dallas, and there has never been a tornado within the city-limits. We are growing very rapidly. We currently have about 15,000 people. Graham has been ranked the safest town in Texas several years in a row!!!!

Lindsay and Muenster. Two great towns. Good people with a great school system. Both are located about an hour and 15 minutes north of both Dallas and Ft. Worth. Right south of the Red River.
