Before this turns into a totally drinking subject rather then about looking for band members, let me just wish you luck. You have a good choice in music which the majority like.

I think the others are right that Austin will offer you the most opportunities but maybe I will see ya in Houston some day.

Lubbock would enjoy having you, but I don't think you would enjoy Lubbock. I've lived there all my life and I don't think it's a great place for a creative person to spread their wings. Lubbock does have somewhat of a laid back music scene, but a bigger city is a better place to have a career in music. Don't get my fellow Lubbockites wrong. They're not shoving it down your throat, they just really want you to come.

If you've got the right connections, NWPA, what about some studio recording work, too? Have you considered that? You might be able to end up meeting some players that you're looking for. I realize that studio musicians probably have more of a set schedule and more time demand than anyone else, but that kind of a gig could lead to something. If nothing else, it might give you more connections to more people.

I don't drink, and I'm a Christian man... I just want people to have good clean fun. I'd take a nightclub gig over a bar gig... but in the end, the best gigs are parties and other "big hall" events like weddings.
Corporate gigs which pay really good usually and cruise ship gigs. you get free travel, food, lodging, and you never know who might be crusin. Casino gigs pay well too but that might not do for the reasons you stated above.
